<< As this is my first submission to the B-Greek mailing list, I must admit
my feeble skills with Koine Greek. I am currently struggling on without a
teacher, trying to translate (leaning too heavily on Zerwick) and review
grammar and vocabulary with my beginning grammar book. I have been looking
for an intermediate grammar book, but they seem to be few and far between.
I would be interested in any advise on a good intermediate grammar that
would be a worthwhile investment. (I am still, alas, a poor student, so I
don't want to waste my funds on a book which would only gather dust.) >>

You might consider saving your money and skipping right to an advanced
("reference") grammar. The standard scholarly advanced grammar is BDF = "A
Greek Grammar of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature" by
F. Blass, A. Debrunner, and Robert W. Funk (University of Chicago Press,
1961), although personally I prefer "A Grammar of the Greek New Testament
in the Light of Historical Research" by A.T. Robertson (Broadman Press,
1934). Also useful is: "Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics. An Exegetical
Syntax of the New Testament" by Daniel B. Wallace (Zondervan, 1996).

But if you really want an "intermediate" Grammar, you might consider
looking at: "Idioms of the Greek New Testament" by Stanley E. Porter
(Sheffield Academic Press, 1992).

As in all choices like this, I would recommend going to a good theological
library and looking at each of them for yourself.
