Yes, but if KATA has intensifying force we would use the more common English
idiom "swallow up" (KJV, ASV, RSV, NRSV, NIV, NLT). The word "devour" would
also bring out the force.

I don't think so, since NIKOS is the object of the preposition, and the
prepositional phrase modifies the verb KATEPOQH. The action of the verb,
then, result in NIKOS.
