Mark, thank you for your explanation. I understand it fine theologically,
just as I understand EN XRISTWi theologically since I have heard it all my
life in the religious circles <g> I have been in. But my concern has to do
with what the linguistic meaning of the original syntax is. What is
the semantic (not syntactic, which we know is dative) role of Greek EN +
name? I am trying to ask a linguistic question about this important lexical
construction. How do we linguistically express the lexical meaning of EN
XRISTWi so that those who do not understand technical (e.g. locative of
sphere) or theological terms can understand what EN XRISTWi means?
My reason for asking about extra-biblical usage of the EN + name phrasal
syntax was to try to determine the linguistic meaning of this syntactic
construction, to separate theology from linguistics, in this case, if
possible, to get as objective insight into the linguistic meaning of EN
XRISTWi as possible.
