Dear Harold,
great! Your rendering makes a perfect sense and gives
life to the verse at hand. "Abraham is the father of us all in the sight
of
the God whom He believed"! It makes sense especially because
Paul was trying to argue in chapter 4 that Abraham, to whom the promise is
made, is the father of both the Jews and the Gentile believers. That might
not have been obvious to the human eyes, but was so in the sight of God.
Thanks for the insight.
