What are the grammatical considerations for determining
what ERCOMENON modifies? (The passage is John 1:9)
<

I think word order and Jewish idiom need to be used.

"those who come in the world" is a rabbinic Hebrew idiom.
consequently, while it may sound tautologous
("every man who comes in the world")
it looks like it goes with "man", both as to its idiomatic,
expected meaning and as to its word order.
