aiwnos, kata thn entolhn tou agiou tou megalou en tauth th orasei.

In 1Enoch 14:1 we see Biblos logwn dikaiosunhs functioning as a Title,
Theme, Topic, and Point of Departure**. To understand this you must read it
in context* (see below).

As discourse markers go, Biblos in 14:1 is a very explicit sort of marker.
Biblos is clause initial in a verbless constituent. I believe it functions
as the theme (Brown & Yule p.126). I suspect it also serves as the topic but
both of these points are open for discussion. There is no question that it
serves as a Title.

If you read chapter 13 you will discover that Biblos also serves as a point
of departure. It ties the text following it to the text before it. Most
specifically it makes reference to 13:8 where Enoch is given his orders:

13:8 kai idou oneiroi ep eme hlqon kai oraseis ep eme epepipton, kai idon
oraseis orghs, kai hlqhn fwnh legousa Eipon tois uiois tou ouranou tou
elegxai autous .

In looking through chapter 4 in Brown & Yule* "Staging and Representation of
Discourse Structure" I was struck by the notion that a Title is used to
activate a "frame" (Filmore's definition) which becomes a semantic
constraint in the reading of the subsequent text. This however is the first
case I have stumbled on to where a Title also serves as a point of departure
but I suppose this is actually quite common in texts where titles are
embedded within the text. I cannot recall any examples where titles are
embedded in the NT corpus. There may be some.

The question of Biblos in 14:1 as a theme and/or topic might be worth
tossing around if anyone of you DA veterans feel so inclined.
