Veils

Re the request on veils. You may be helped by considering
the midrashic traditions and apocalypic handling of Genesis
6:1-4, the fall of the angels. Sometime, if gremlins are
not looking I will have an article on the passages's
interpretations in 2nd century CE (Journal of Religious
History). End horn tooting.

While Testament of XII Patriarchs has some Christian
interpolations, look at Testament of Reuben. He says women
seduced the angels, continues in a highlyy influential and
negative manner about women and sexuality. They are, he
says evil. Try this "They contrive in their hearts against
men, then by decking themselves out they lead men's minds
astray, by a look they implant their poison and finally in
the act itself they take them captive. ... flee from sexual
promiscuity, AND ORDER YOUR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS NOT TO
ADORN THEIR HEADS AND THEIR APPEARANCES SO AS TO DECEIVE
MEN'S SOUND MINDS. FOR EVERY WOMAN WHO SCHEMES IN THESE
WAYS IS DESTINED FOR ETERNAL PUNISHMENT..." (Charlesworth
translation). This may be more relevant to Paul's situation
and the struggle for authority at Corinth. Tertullian
virtualy quotes Reuben plus 6:1-4 etc., but that is in the
2nd century.
