ABSTRACT

This presentation will focus on XML and DSSSL.

Recent OpenJade developments will be presented and live examples shown. The DSSSL language presentation part will focus on the similarities between CSS and DSSSL. Also presented will be the major construction rules and how a XML document is transformed with DSSSL into a displayable or printable entity.

Also, some environments using OpenJade will be demonstrated, for instance, the SGML/XML kit. This part of the presentation will show how a version of OpenJade is integrated into the Windows shell. Some XML rendition with DSSSL will be showed, for instance XMLNews or topic maps documents rendered inside a browser in different formats like RTF or HTML+CSS. Some HTML site using DSSSL for XML transformation will also presented.

Finally, a short description of the OpenJade future with the inclusion of tactile (Braille) and aural flow objects will be presented, together with a short resume of the discussion in progress for the next DSSSL-2 specifications.
