It works to facilitate personal relationships between farmers and consumers by encouraging local production and consumption and the development of small value-added processing businesses. Project workers try to directly link farmers and consumers together by providing an information clearinghouse, putting on workshops for farmers on how to link in to local markets, educating consumers in church and civic groups, and facilitating the infrastructure for a local food system.
