  1. U.S. Fleet Anti-Submarine and Escort of Convoy Instructions, 1945, F.T.P. 223A, is approved for the use and guidance of the U.S. Fleet effective on receipt. It supersedes U.S. Fleet Anti-Submarine and Escort of Convoy Instructions, F.T.P. 223, copies of which shall be destroyed by burning. No report of such destruction is required.

  2. These Instructions are intended to serve as a sufficient general guide for the conduct of anti-submarine and escort of convoy operations. A commander issuing such special instructions shall include in the promulgating letter a directive for their destruction when their purpose has been served. In all cases, two copies of such special instructions shall be forwarded, by the issuing commander, to the Commander in Chief, United States Fleet.

  3. Existing anti-submarine and escort of convoy instructions in conflict with this publication or that materially duplicate parts thereof, shall be revised or cancelled.

  4. F.T.P. 223A is a confidential, non-registered publication which shall be transported, handled, and stowed, as prescribed by Article 76, U.S. Navy Regulations, 1920, and the Registered Publication Manual.

  5. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO MAKE EXTRACTS OR COPY THIS PUBLICATION WITHOUT SPECIFIC AUTHORITY FROM THE SECRETARY OF THE NAVY, OR CHIEF OF NAVAL OPERATIONS, EXCEPT AS PROVIDED FOR IN THE REGISTERED PUBLICATION MANUAL.
