Served as PG 101-102, 111-179, 201-202, and 207-210 until PF classification was establish in 1945.
Gunboat versions of the DE, Frigates were built on a mass-production basis for the same type of general service. Armament is approximately the same, except for the total absence of torpedo tubes.

Ashville Class:

Acquired from the British, these sisters of the Canadian-built River class became the 1st American frigates.
