do-it-yer-own-damn-self stir-fry

So. You thought you needed a wok to make stir-fry. What kind of lines have you been fed? All you really need for this stir fry is a big ass frying pan, two people, about 20 minutes, and the following:

Ingredients:
1 package udon noodles (find it at your local Chinese food market) - fresh noodles are best
3-4 carrots
3-4 crowns of broccoli (or 2 whole stalks, if you like the stalky bits too)
1/2 of a small onion
dark soy sauce
2-3 cloves garlic
small bit of fresh ginger
couple tablespoons oil (peanut oil is fantastic, but olive oil or sesame oil works too)

(Note: if you're going to incorporate meat into this - hey, I really like meaty stir-fry - get the meat done first: Dice the meat and toss it in after you've sauteed the garlic and ginger. Saute til done, then add vegetables and noodles.)

If you have an electric burner, put it on about medium to medium high. Put your oil in and chop garlic and ginger in fine little pieces. Saute the garlic and ginger and if you want an even more garlicky taste, throw some garlic powder in, too. At any point you can add soy sauce (I prefer dark because it gives more flavour for your buck); keep adding after each element if you really, really like it.

Chop your onion in small pieces, chop carrots and broccoli according to personal texture tastes. Throw in and - yes! - stir around. You can even pick up the pan and shake it with a confident wrist, though beware of rogue vegetable escapees. After about 5-10 minutes of fryin' and shakin', add the udon noodles and let sit for about 5 more minutes. You're ready to eat and enjoy!
