• What can I say about m e l t y? Claiming to be the "'zine for bad seeds", it's chock full of good ideas and sensible mess from your hostess with the dreamy eyes (and good fashion sense too). Especially worth a read are the pieces on Diary of a Feminist Sell-Out and Melty goes to Vegas.
• For my money, Haruki Murakami is one of the best writers on the planet. If you haven't heard of him or read anything by him, imagine this: parboiled Japanese detective fiction. But that's not even the tip of this iceburg. Go on, look at this page and come back later (maybe). And don't forget to support your local independent bookstore.
• Ready to write the story of your life or just want to jot down some tales from last summer? Can't remember what all you did, or have done? On first look, Bob Wendlinger's Memory Triggering Corner for Writers was a little wacky - but it offers mind-focusing tips on how to eke specifics of Uncle Sal's holiday picnic in 1982 out of your memory vaults. Includes an interesting tale on the father of all memory-triggerers, Marcel Proust.
• The writing of Mike Capps has some true-to-life and very realistically described imagery. Thumbs up.
• The writings of Dr. Zeus are provoking and mesmerising.
• The RICHH Archives. If you have not seen anything written by RICHH or heard of him at all, ever, RUN DO NOT WALK and attempt to justify your worthless puny life. (Basically, the man is a demi-god. Mmm.)
• Glimmer Train. As someone once put it, "You still have to buy the paper version for entire pieces and the covers look like Highlights magazine done by the Junior League but the content floors me".
• From the Universal Black Press comes the Written Word, a collection of etexts on the Internet written by and for blacks worldwide. Everything from culture to conflict to recommended readings and more.
• Urban Diary. It reads like a crumpled piece of corrugated cardboard left on a sewer grate in winter.
• Screenwriters & Playwrights -- Resources for the commercial money-loving beast in every writer.
• vampyr's box of roses is, sadly enough, out of commission. If anyone can find his new address, please let me know.
• Oyster Boy, a literary zine of uncanny rapport. (They also had the wonderous sense to publish a poem of mine, _coffee_.)
• The Georgetown Gonzo, a satire magazine distributed at - very good! - Georgetown University in Washington. D.C. It's not been updated in ages; perhaps you could mail the editors & complain! :-)
• BeatriceWWW, a site put together and administered by Ron Hogan. Featuring a reworking of the Tao te Ching by Jesse Garon. Other poets/writers are featured as well.
• Database of poetry at N. C. State.
• Poetry server at Carnegie Mellon University. Also available there is the English Server. Lots of info. Lots.
• Toi Derricotte and Buddy Norton can be found at this web site at Pitt University.
• My former teacher and venerable SunSITE dude Paul Jones' chapbook, What the Welsh and Chinese Have in Common, only available (for those who can't find it in a used bookstore) on-line. Last I checked, there was a copy at the Skylight Exchange in Chapel Hill. But I hid it, so I can go back and get it. ;-)
• Verbiage magazine hosts "great fiction since 1994". Check it out.
• The Tech Classics Archive is a searchable collection of over 400 classical Greek and Roman texts (in English translation). Hot dang.
• The Commonplace Book, an "edited collection of striking passages noted in a single place for future reference".
