Books-genetics in ecology-OPINONS?

We are planning a graduate seminar here at Bowling Green on the techniques
and uses of genetic approaches in ecological research. We have identifed
two recent books as logical choices to use as frameworks for the seminar.
Can I get your collective opinions on the value of these books (not on the
value of using a book for a seminar). The books are:

Avis, John. 1994. Molecular Markers, Natural History, and Evolution.

Berry, R.J. 1992. Genes in Ecology.

Thanks for your insights.
