Rameses: a mascot's life

Before the games, Rameses must prepare....

Rameses cutting his cake.... For the past 75 years, members of my family have mascotted for UNC. The tradition goes way back to my great-great grandfather, Herbert, who first stepped on the field back in 1924. Today the General Alumni Association congratulates my family with a cake! And they let me cut it first!

First rule of mascotting: You gotta be buff! Here you can see me and my trainer Paul hitting the weightroom. Our football team has now beaten N.C. State seven straight times....thanks in large part to my dedicatation to the weights. Coach Torbush was gonna let me play linebacker this past season, but he was afraid I might hurt somebody. After watching me lift this barbell, who can blame him? Rameses pumping iron in preparation....

Rameses conferring with state officials.... This is me before the game as I plot my strategy with the local law enforcement types. Before every game I confer with the state troopers to see what sort of damage they'll let me get away with. Usually they let me run rampant on the other mascot, so long as nobody gets seriously maimed. Unless of course, we're playing Duke. Then anything goes...
