Pie In The Sky Special Report!
In a Pie In The Sky exclusive, we discovered Sony's secret plans to
make NO games available at the September 9th US launch of the
PlayStation. We managed to track down one of our sources at SCEA, and
pestered him for more information about this startling discovery.
PITS - Can you confirm the rumor we've heard that there will be no games
available for the PlayStation at the system's US launch date?
Source - Yes, that's right.
PITS - Why in the hell would Sony release a video game system without
any games available for it?
Source - Well, you know how it is. We decided we wanted to give the
Saturn a head start, let them sell a few systems. Since the PlayStation
hardware itself is more aestheticaly pleasing than ANY of the games
currently available for the Saturn, we came to the conclusion that the
only way to give the Saturn a fair chance would be to not release any
software for a month or so.
PITS - What amazing, utter bullshit. You mean Sony isn't going to
include any of it's system selling games such as Tohshinden or Ridge
Racer at launch?
Source - Nah. We think it's kinda amusing actually. After all, people
have been waiting for months for the PlayStation, they can wait a bit
longer.
PITS - Well, when you finally get around to releasing some games for the
PlayStation, what's first on the release list?
Source - We've currently got three games scheduled for release in
October. Twin Goddesses, Mahjong Station, and about 1/12 of Arc the
Lad.
PITS - What a ridiculous idea. Where in the hell did this insane idea
come from?
Source - Well, we were reading usenet, and kept seeing people spreading
rumors that this game wouldn't be available at launch, and that game
wouldn't be available at lunch. They seemed very persistant these wild
rumors, and, in fact, their rambling made up a large percentage of the
traffic on the relevant Sony newsgroups, not to mention quite a number of
non-Sony newsgroups. So, we're giving the people what they want.
PITS - Do you realize that most of what you read on usenet is complete
and utter bullshit?
Source - Nonsense. After all, the text is sitting right there! It has
to be true! Right?
PITS - Well, thank you for your time. Maybe you should stop reading
usenet for a while.
Source: Right? It's true, right?
