Beyond CD-ROM: How to Publish on the Internet




To run a server, you need:
  1. some computer expertise
  2. a computer running a multithreaded OS, although Windows and Macs will work barely (gurus prefer UNIX)
  3. server software (netsite, ncsa, plexus, etc)
  4. an appropriate communications link, 9.6KB or T-1 (1.5MB)
  5. connected to an Internet service provider

To design your pages, you need:
  1. computer design skills
  2. writing and editorial skills
  3. awareness of the limitations of the Net
  4. basic HTML coding skills (or Internet Assistant or other HTML authoring environment)
  5. computer design programs (photoshop, corel draw, truespace, etc)
  6. sound and video optional
