The conference will describe the new Multimedia Super-corridor, a
technology export zone measuring 9 by 30 miles near Malaysia's capital city
of Kuala Lumpur. Designed specifically to attract leading developers of
multimedia technologies, the MSC will be equipped with a 2.5-10 gigabit
fiber optic asynchronous transfer mode backbone network and a new
international airport. Partners in this Corridor project will also benefit
from new policies and cyberlaws designed to encourage electronic commerce,
facilitate the development of multimedia applications and establish
safeguards for the protection of intellectual property.
