THE PRISM

What's new at INTERNATIONALIST BOOKS

by Kelly Kress

Welcome to the Internationalist

Books newsletter! For Prism readers who may not know about us, Internationalist Books is a volunteer run, not-for-profit bookstore and resource center located at 405 W. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill. We stock a variety of alternative, mind-expanding books & periodicals, plus bumperstickers, buttons, and zines intended to encourage diversity, tolerance and progressive ideas.

Spring marks a few changes here at the store: Though we've had to say goodbye to Dorrit recently, we're excited to welcome our new co-manager Andrew to the store. And in addition to our core group of loyal volunteers (Seth, Melissa, Drew, Dawn, Brad, Kelly A., Katy, Cassiana & Caroline), we're glad to have Joy, Mike, Brian, Matthew, Lisa H, Deborah, Yael & Kellie join us. Special thanks to Lisa G. for her continued efforts with our magazine inventory, Steve for keeping the place tidy and running interference during our managers' meetings, and Lincoln & Florence for remaining involved even though they haven't time to work a shift. All of these people offer their time & energy to help keep Internationalist Books going, and we appreciate every one of them! We're always in need of new volunteers, especially during the summer months when many of our student volunteers leave town, so give us a call at 942-1740 if you're interested.

To combat our gigantic debt we're in the process of organizing some fundraisers, the first of which will be a "devastating" yard sale on May 23. See our ad here for directions and information regarding donations. Please think of us when you're doing your spring cleaning!
