Consequently the front panel dial is no longer "synced" to the cavity tuning screw, nor to the jackscrew that rides along the top of the cavity, adjusting the positions of the pickup loops inside. The plastic carrier on the jackscrew has adjustable setscrews fore and aft, that appear to be stops (range limits). So I can run the jackscrew all the way to one end (either 50 or 500 MHz), and set the dial to match, then retighten the idler gears locking everything together again. But how do I properly align the small gear that actually adjusts the cavity plunger? The service manual only says "do not attempt". Ha! The only way I can think of is to run a 50 MHz signal from my 190A generator, or perhaps 144 MHz from my 2m rigs, and by trial and error find the plunger setting that resonates at that frequency? Thanks for any hints! -Charles ------------------------------ Message-ID: <312994.3085.qm@web90605.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Date: Mon, 30 Mar 2009 13:30:57 -0700 (PDT) From: Jerry Proc Subject: Need Help With Cdn Marconi SMR-3 Manual To: Old Tube Radios MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hello Everyone, Just finished scanning a 45 page SMR-3 manual that took me over an hour to scan. Right at the most critical part, I was interrupted while tiling the oversize schematic. As a result I am missing one section and have a duplicate of another section. Do you have the full program, or do you want me to do it for you? I'd be glad to, or can try to guide you thru the process, which isn't hard. 73, Al, W8UT New Bern, NC www.boatanchors.org www.hammarlund.info "there is nothing -absolutely nothing- half as much worth doing as simply messing about in boats."
