An automated list manager should help things run more smoothly for everyone while still providing the same outstanding signal-to-noise ratio we have enjoyed since the list's beginning. Jack Hill W4PPT has agreed to provide a new home for the list, with the blessings of Paul Prescott N1AAC who took over from Our Esteemed Founder Jim Lockwood KM6NK. NOTE - You need not re-subscribe or take any special action other than noting the new addresses listed below. The subscription list was moved intact from the old mit.edu site and you are already on it if you got this message. Subscribers of the satellite list on boatanchors@beacons.cts.com will also be moved to this new address. The new mailing list address is now boatanchors@ThePorch.com. Use this now for messages of general interest to the entire group Please don't use it to subscribe, change address, etc. The new automated list manager address is ListProc@ThePorch.com Use this for subscribing, unsubscribing, getting archived info, getting the FAQ message, changing your address, etc. Now send a message to ListProc@ThePorch.com with just HELP in the body to get info on how to do this. The new list owner address is ListOwn@jackatak.ThePorch.com Use this address only when there is a problem which really truly can't be resolved otherwise. Now, yes right now, save this message so you'll have these addresses handy. Whew, thanks - doesn't that feel better? You will also soon receive a copy of the "Welcome" message that will be sent to all new subscribers. It includes more useful info on things like the purpose of the list, how to subscribe/unsubscribe, etc. It would be a good idea if you save it along with this message for future reference or to pass on to interested parties. Thanks. The transition team has included long-time boatanchorites and folks who have been helping keep "boatanchors" alive over the last couple of years. We have tested this program on a variety of mail programs, but we know that it is possible some behavior may be different (particularly in how you reply to just an individual or to the entire list). There seems to be no way to satisfy all possible e-mail software! Just relax, keep your eyes open, and adjust your habits accordingly. We hope that we'll all now have a stable, reliable, and useful list with a minimum of disruption. Enjoy. Happy Holidays and 73 from the transition team.
