Moment by moment, twist by twist, the suspense and tension build to heights of courage and heroism, reflecting everyone's responsibility for their own lives and other's deaths. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in Paris. For Jodie Foster, the film will give her the opportunity for a role that can match her acknowledged talent and exceptional maturity. She will play the determined young woman who is prepared to sacrifice anything, including her life, for the man she loves. An Academy Award nominee for her portrayal in "Taxi Driver," she won the National Society of Film Critics Award and Italy's prestigious Donatello Award for that role as well as the British Academy Award for both "Taxi Driver" and the musical "Bugsy Malone." In her career which began at age six, the twenty-year old Ms. Foster has played in a diverse number of films, including such productions as the musical "Tom Sawyer," "Kansas city Bomber," "Freaky Friday," "Foxes," "Carny," recently the television presentation of "Svengali" opposite Peter O'Toole, and the film adaptation of John Irving's "Hotel New Hampshire". She will do "The Blood of Others" after completing her junior year at Yale where she is an A student. Michael Ontkean has always chosen his roles for the challenge they offer. In "The Blood of Others," he will portray the heroic and idealistic French resistance leader who must face the most intense moment of truth. Audiences first knew him for his co-starring role on the television hit series "The Rookies." Claude Chabrol has been called the Hitchcock of the modern French cinema, a director noted throughout the world for films which present marvelous suspense and complex personal relationships. His first film, "Le Beau Serge" launched the New Wave. Since then, he has made more than thirty-six features and fourteen television productions. Brian Moore, who has written the screenplay, is a novelist and screen writer whose works have included "Torn Curtin," "The Luck of Ginger Coffey," and "The Doctor's Wife." The range of characters in "The Blood of Others" provides an opportunity for a cast of actors to join in an ensemble production enhancing the drama and texture of the central romantic thriller. Michael York, whose performance in "Cabaret" captured both audience and critical acclaim, has continued to provide subtle, sophisticated performances in films and television productions. Among them have been "Murder on the Orient Express," "The Three Muskateers", "The Four Muskateers," "Logan's Run", and "A Man Called Intrepid." He has also appeared extensively on the stage in the U.S. and Great Britain in roles from "Hamlet" to Broadway's "Bent" and "The Little Prince." Ms. Audran has appeared in many of Chabrol's films as well as major productions for other top film- makers on the Continent and in the U.S. as well as in such television productions as "Brideshead Revisited." Jean-Pierre Aumont, a favorite international star for four decades, Kate Reid who was widely hailed for her role in "Atlantic City," Christine Laurent, and Alexandra Stewart complete the starring cast. An ICC-International Cinema Corporation presentation, the film will be produced by Denis Heroux and John Kemeny who produced "Atlantic City" and "Quest for Fire" and are currently in production on "Louisiana," a sweeping romantic adventure starring Margot Kidder, Ian Charleson, and Victor Lanoux on location in Louisiana.
