   A common forum to users and developers of xBase products. For:
   
   (1) To discuss the design, programming, and administration of systems
       and applications which use a database model and programming tools
       generically known as xBase (those tools derived or desended from
       Ashton-Tate's dBASE III).
   
       These include, among others:
       "dBASE"
           Ashton-Tate's dBASE III and dBASE III+
              (there are still thousands using these) Borland's
           dBase IV
       "Clipper"
           Nantucket's Clipper Summer '87 compiler
           Nantucket's Clipper 5.01 compiler
           Computer Associates CA-Clipper 5.2 compiler
       "Fox"
           Fox Software's FoxBase+ and FoxBase+(Mac)
           Fox Software's FoxPro 2.0
           MicroSoft's FoxPro (2.0 and 2.5)
       "Others"
           Computer Associates CA-dbFast
           Plus variants of these for other OS's (notably Unix)
   
   (2) To share ideas, information, and specific experience regarding
       design and programming of applications within the xBase
       environment, including efficient schema design and useful xBase
       programming techniques;
  
   (3) To discuss new products of interest to xBase users, including
       updates to xBase systems and third-party add-on products, their
       useage, advantages and drawbacks, and, where shareware/freeware
       can be found for downloading;
   
   (4) To educate and inform others about the strengths, weaknesses, and
       general usage of xBase to solve real world problems; and;
   
   (5) To provide xBase users and developers who have Usenet access what
       they have not had before: a common newsgroup to share with one
       another _xBase_ ideas, concerns, experiences, questions, and
       knowledge -- seperate from "general database" discussion,
       relational theory, and, discussion of mainframe database products.
   
   (6) Product specific discussion in the general group (c.d.xbase.misc) is
       discouraged, as is crossposting between product specific groups and
       the general database group.  Comparisions of xBase products with
       non-xBase products should be limited to the group comp.databases.
