  Announcements about standards activities. (Moderated)

    A newsgroup for notifications from ANSI Standards Action
  and other sources of new draft national ands international Standards in
  the information systems and information technology areas that are
  available for public review and how to obtain copies of them and comment
  on them. As time, resources, and permissions permit, it will gradually
  be expanded to include announcements of newly-published final Standards
  and announcements of new standardization projects being initiated. 
  The material is extracted, with permission, from ANSI Standards
  Action and other publications by the ACM Standards Committee to keep
  ACM members informed about standardization activities that may affect
  them.  ACM assumes that all readers of the list are ACM Members and
  encourages those who are not to join.
    Except as indicated otherwise in a particular posting, the posting
  contains all of the information that is available except through the
  Standards Developer itself.  In particular, this is intended as a way of 
  circulating announcements and information.  It is not a discussion list, 
  and attempts to post to it will be ignored.
