  A forum for the discussion of urban public transportation systems, 
  emphasizing - but not limited to - rail and bus transit systems in 
  metropolitan centers worldwide.  Including, discussion of all aspects of 
  public transit, including planning, financing, selection of routes and 
  equipment, operating procedures, historical factoids, sociological 
  implications, etc.
  
  It is NOT a supplant of any of the existing newsgroup.  So, it should 
  not be seen as an extension of rec.railroad, whose charter includes at 
  least three areas (long-distance travel, freight railroads, and 
  recreational fan trips) that are at most tangential to 
  misc.transport.urban-transit.
