L-N in fact gives meanings by definitions and not simply by glosses,
as in most Lexicons. The definitions are based on distinctive
features of meaning of a term. For instance, with respect to PEIRAZW,
(27.29) Matt 16:1, Lk 10:25 are listed as examples of the meaning
"trap" or "It is also possible to interpret PEIRAZW...as 'the process
of testing or examining.'" This hardly appears to be determining a
range without ever questioning a definition.
