The discussion of the Christmas star continues

Dear friends of the list:
At the risk of losing my lurker status (I enjoy your discussions immensely,
though most of you could blow me away with your little finger), I thought
I'd mention a back issue of Christianity Today with a lovely piece on the
Chrismas star I remember them doing when I was in college around Christmas
1976 (hoping my memory isn't too flawed).

I thought it to have been very well done, concerned with, among other issues
(like whether the star was a result of natural conjunctions or was a
divine one-time creation)
SEVERAL possible planetary conjuction in SEVERAL constellations ACTUALLY
TELLING MUCH OF THE CHRISTMAS STORY IN THE HEAVENS, presumably God's witness
to the magi,
(I'm going out on a limb with a 20 year old memory, so please give
me grace!) such as (with the following holding astrological significance)
the planet Mercury as messenger appearing in the constellation Virgo, the
Virgin, and then there was something about Regulus as the star (planet? I'm
not an astronomer or astrologer) of a king's birth, Jupiter? and Saturn?,
and other matters I can't recall. I could dream I would search out that
info, but I know my limitations better than that, especially considering
I've been thinking about tracking it down for at least ten years!!!

A Blessed Christmas and joyful new year to all, grace and peace,
Russ Davis
