In attempting to reply, I accidentally sent my message before completion. I
apologize. I would have been prudent to wait for Carl Winberry's
observations.
However, it would seem that the variants, at least in translation, may be
theologically driven by a Protestant aversion to anything which appears to
resemble "Confession."
