James 2:19 (Continuing exegesis of James 2)

What do you all think of the reduplicating kai in James 2:19? Could we
just as well translate the verse: "...The demons not only believe, but
also shudder"? (or, not only do the demons believe, but also shudder)

This seems to fit well with the sense in which James is using the
illustration. "You, the person not having works, believe that God is
one? Well, the demons not only believe, but also shudder."
