I think hO QEOS is the antecedent of the relative pronoun, but the
clause it introduces is functioning as a grounds proposition in a
grounds-conclusion relation with the clause beginning with PWS (See
Young's Intermediate NT Greek, 233; he also refers to Argyle and gives
other examples of this construction providing the grounds of a following
conclusion).
> Leon Morris in a footnote refers to A. W. Argyle who holds that here "we
> have a clear instance of the causal usage of the relative pronoun in the
> occurance of hOS GE." He translates it as "seeing that he spared not. .
I think therefore Leon Morris' translation picks up the sense of the
semantic relation between the two clauses.
