I notice that this same pericope includes the quotes KATEPOQH hO QANATOS
EIS NIKO and POU SOU, QANATE, TO NIKOS; POU SOU, QANATE, TO KENTRON; from
Is 25:8 and Hos 13:14.
Given that both of these OT sources are dealing with God's judgment (and
the Isaiah text is especially eschatological), and that both prophets make
reference to a blast from the ShoPhaR (Is 27:13 and Hos 5:8, 8:1), doesn't
it make sense that the church in Corinth would have understood EN TH
ESXATH SALPIGGI in terms of biblical prophecy?
