I think that the Corinthians, descendents of Roman colonizers in 44 B.C.,
where the language of almost all inscriptions of the first century A. D. is
still Latin, wouuld be more likely to think of the trumpet in Greek and/or
Roman warfare.
Of course, that is as unprovable as is your suggestion. Peace.
