New List Server: LEXI

ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW LIST SERVER

The University of California at Irvine (UCI) has been home to the
Thesaurus Linguae Graecae Project (TLG) since 1972 and is now embarking
upon a second major computer-based project aimed at conversion of the
Thesaurus Linguae Latinae (TLL) into electronic form. With the location
at UCI of both these electronic resources, it is to be expected that, in
long-range terms, UCI will become a major focal point of lexicographic
and linguistic research in ancient Greek and Latin. Thus it only makes
sense to institute here a new list server called LEXI, which is intended
to provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of issues related
to the Greek and Latin languages and lexicography.

In addition, the list server can constitute a vehicle for obtaining
information, and responding to inquiries about the progress of work on
both TLG and the electronic version of TLL.

Although the focus of LEXI will be primarily on Greek and Latin language
and lexicography, the list server can also be used to deal with issues of
a more general nature. Furthermore, departments, institutions, and
projects wishing to make general announcements about projects in
progress, conferences, and available resources should feel free to use
LEXI as a bulletin board for posting such information, as well as for
making the appropriate cross-postings.

To subscribe to LEXI, send the following message (no subject) to
listserv@uci.edu:
