SOPHRONIDZO

        I'd like some help with the verb SOPHRONIDZO as used in Titus 2:4,
"That they may TEACH the young women TO BE SOBER, to love their husbands
..." (KJV)  The NAS in Titus consistently translates SOPHRON as "sensible";
but in the NAS there is no sense of the mental stability or
level-headedness which I infer from the verb in 2:4. Likewise, the NIV
seems to ignore the concept altogether.

        Can someone give me a brief idea of the colloquial KOINE use of
this word?
