Subject: Software for learning Greek.
A week or two ago, I asked if any of you knew of software that would be useful in teaching or learning first year New Testament Greek. I'm sure there is a lot more software out there. For example, no one mentioned MemCards, the program I used to learn vocabulary.

I've heard of a Greek-learning CD-ROM package with animation and voice synthesis. Has anyone else seen or used it?

Now that we're airing our typographical complaints, I'd like to add mine:
I was really disappointed that the NA grew and 27 no longer fits in my pocket. :( I'll stick with my old 26; gave my 27 away.

Subject: kurios
best discussion of Greek "kyrios" is Wilhelm Boussett's book, "KYRIOS
CHRISTOS", translated by John Steely, Abingdon Press, Nashville (1970).
Boussett gives evidence that the title "kyrios" is borrowed from Hellenistic
religions, and in N.T. means "the worshipped Jesus". In Paul's letters, this
title tends to point to community practices and beliefs, e.g., "in the lord",
and "from the lord".

synoptic problem is one helluva stew. Your quoted authors cannot answer
questions of :minor agreements"; when Q goes, Mark is soon to go. Suggest
you peruse H.-H. Stoldt's "History and Criticism of the Marcan Hypothesis",
English translation 1980, Mercer University Press, Macon, Georgia. Stoldt
concludes (p. 259), "there can be no doubt about the temporal posteriority of
the Gospel of Mark".

Subject: Way off topic. German help sought
This has nothing to do with this list. I am selfishly posting here
because I'm sure there are many people on this list competent in German.
Is there a kind soul out there who wouuldn't mind too much giving me
a _little_ help with a German clause I'm struggling voer? Actually,
I thik I know what it says, but the word order seems very odd to me
(but it's German -- what else is new?), so I'm not sure and my usual
source for German help (my instructor) is out of town She didn't
assigbn the text I'm trying to read, so that may not matter. Anyway,
if you are willing to help me, please send me private email at
