dear Serge,

Don't leave out the parallel in Gospel of Thomas, logion 64. The little
"red-letter edition" of the Jesus Seminar, THE PARABLES OF JESUS (Sonoma,
1988) gives a few notes describing secondary additions from the hand of
Matthew ("the king was angry, and sent his troops, and destroyed those
murderers and burned their city") and from the hand of Thomas ("tradesmen and
merchants shall not enter the places of my Father").
The chief question: was the original parable directed against murderous
Jews or against money-mad merchants?
