I can see the humour and I'm sure you don't think
what Paul had in mind in Eph4:13 EIS ANDRA TELEION
or Col 1:28 PANTA ANQROPON TELEION EN CRISTWi has
anything to do with the subsequent social/structural
evolution of the church but I disagree with the
stated philosophy on translation.
I can't see how one can avoid giving a picture of
a "new-born" church (I reckon we only just got to the
"difficult teenager" stage :-)), and a very Jewish
church at that.
When I read any other ancient documents I *want* the
clock put back to the fall of Carthage, the crusades
or whenever, so why should the NT be any different?
What is the point of immersing oneself in a dead
language without a cultural turn-back of the clock
too?
