I can understand your perspective - I really grit my teeth sometimes when I
read some of the posts, particularly with some of the people who seem to
deny God's grace, the deity of Christ, etc. Using B-Greek constructively is
like panning for gold; you need to find ways to let the gold settle in the
pan, but let the rest wash off. Panning for gold takes time and patience.
Incidentally, I DO think that Jesus used humor to make points. For
instance, the image of the Pharisees straining out a gnat and swallowing a
camel is just plain funny. This kind of insight can be helpful in
understanding what the Bible has to say to us.
I am also a conservative Christian, and I can understand your concerns. If
B-Greek is not edifying for you, by all means, drop it. I just wanted to
let you know my own perspective. I am learning a lot about the language
here, and I personally find it helpful.
