One B-Greeker (David Moore? I'm not going to check the archive; it really
doesn't matter who) has already noticed that the "reply" function on
B-Greek mail now sends replies directly to the original sender rather than
to B-Greek, although a copy now goes to B-Greek UNLESS the sender erases
that e-address on the cc-line.
This change was made on Wednesday afternoon of this week to resolve a
problem in the former settings that caused some subscribers, as a
consequence of their SMTP system, to receive mail without any clear
identification in the "From:" header indicating the original sender. (Why
is this important, you ask? Some B-Greekers prefer to read posts only if
they think they can estimate in advance whether they are worth reading; in
any case, it is somehow reassuring to be able to see in the header exactly
who the original sender is). So: Jonathan spent considerable time on
Wednesday afternoon discovering how to change the headers and then
implemented the change.
The thing everybody needs to be aware of as a result is this:
IF you want your reply to go ONLY to the original sender, then ERASE the
"B-Greek" address from the "cc" line. In fact, in order NOT to achieve what
you don't want to achieve in making a reply, it would be best if you check
the settings in your own mail program, as these programs vary widely in
their handling of the reply function and can usually be set to do whatever
you want them to do--but you have to be, as my wife repeatedly warns me,
"aware of your surroundings."
