The death of Raymond Brown is a great loss. It's impressive how many people
felt they knew him, and felt he was their friend. I was with him in the 70s
on Faith and Order, and we "did" Moscow together, after a meeting in Odessa.
We had fun figuring out street names in Russian, finding our way around the
city, and conversing about things theological and otherwise. Like so many
others, I thank God for Raymond Brown and his labors for God's kingdom, as
well as his humanity and genuine Christian existence.
