MAKROQUMEW

I'm studying 1 Cor 13, and I'm a little confused by some of the other
passages in which the word MAKROQUMEW appears. Consider this verse:

Luke 18:7 hO DE QEOS OU MH POIHSHi THN EKDIKHSIN TWN EKLEKTWN AUTOU TWN
BOWNTWN AUTWi hHMERAS KAI NUKTOS, KAI *MAKROQUMEI* EP AUTOIS;

What does MAKROQUMEW mean in this context? Does it simply mean "to wait"?
The English word "patient" also has the meaning "to be able to wait".

Also, in Proverbs 14:29, MAKROQUMOS is contrated to OLIGOYUCOS:

Prov 14:29 MAKROQUMOS ANHR POLUS EN FRONHSEI, hO DE OLIGOYUCOS ISCURWS AFRWN;
.30 PRAU"QUMOS ANHR KARDIAS IATROS, SHS DE OSTEWN KARDIA AISQHTIKH.

I'm not sure how closely this corresponds to the Hebrew. I do wonder
whether these words correspond to their translation in the one English
Bible I have handy:

MAKROQUMOS Slow to anger
OLIGOYUCOS Quick to anger

In 1 Thess 5:14, Paul admonishes the Thessalonians to encourage those who
are OLIGOYUCOS, which seems a little out of place if it means "quick to
anger". (After listing several "the unruly", "the discouraged", "the weak",
the same verse tells us: MAKROQUMEITE PROS PANTAS).

Louw and Nida say OLIGOYUCOS means "discouraged". I suppose patience
requires a sort of courage, an ability to put up with things that are
worrisome. Is it legitimate to say that MAKROQUMEW is being patient in the
manner that, in the face of provocation, being wronged, and unrighteousness
(1 Cor 13:5-6), chooses to "bear all things, believe all things, hope all
things, endure all things"? Does MAKROQUMEW mean persevering as well as
being patient?

Also, I assume that MAKROQUMEW is directly related to MAKROQUMOS and QUMOS.
BAGD says QUMOS means "passion, passionate longing", or "anger, wrath,
rage". But MAKROQUMOS doesn't seem to mean "big passion" or "huge rage". I
also notice that in Ecclesiastes 7:3 QUMOS seems to mean "sadness":

Eccl 7:3 AGAQON QUMOS hUPER GELWTA hOTI EN KAKIAi PROSWPOU AGAQUNQHSETAI
KARDIA

Is there any meaningful relationship between MAKROQUMEW and QUMOS?
