i have a popular article in Jerusalem Perspective, Feb 1999.

because of the Semitic background and Jewish prayer, ponerou is more
probably 'evil'.
'evil' is not a name of the 'Evil one' in Hebrew or Aramaic and would have
required greek restructuring for that meaning.
not impossible, matt did it elsewhere,
but less probable,
given some of the wooden translationisms in the lord's prayer
and matthew also has poneros='evil' elsewhere.
