In Justin's Dialogue, Trypho seems to say that he has fled the war [in
Judea] which took place now:
FUGWN TON NUN GENOMENON POLEMON
My problem is the combination of GENOMENON (aor.), which I understand as
denoting punctiliar and in this case completed action, and NUN, which
connotes either a present punctiliar action or continuing action. Is the
war done or in progress (cf. Dial. 9.3)? Could the phrase be read, "having
fled the war which is now happening," indicating continuing action viewed
from a single moment?
