I don't think this is a question of "either/or". Instead, I see it as a
"both/and". Both the Church and the individual member should be pure. Both
the individual believer and the Church as a whole are the "dwelling of the
Holy Spirit".

Again, I think you are half right. But I think Paul means both of these
things- in other words, he is purposefully ambiguous so that he can make his
point to both individuals and the whole group.
