In addition to what has already been clarified by Maurice and Carl, it
may be of additional interest to note the frequent use of hOMOLOGEW
(and cognates) in papyrus contracts where the term signifies the
acknowledgement of formal agreement or consent.

hOMOLOGW MEMETHSQAI DIA SOU PARA PTOLEMAIOU TOU SITOL(OGOUNTOS)...,
B.G.U. 1232 (3rd-2nd cent. BC) Hunt and Edgar translate this: "I
acknowledge that I have received through you from Ptolemaeus the
sitologus..." (This exact expression occurs 2x in B.G.U. 1232)

KURIA hH EPIDOCH, PERI hHS EPERWTHQEIS hWMOLOGHSA, POxy. 2109 (AD 261)
Hunt and Edgar translate this: "This engagement is valid, and in answer
to the formal qustion concerning it I gave my consent."
