BAG, s.v. EPIKALEW, 2.b., treats the phrase EI PATERA EPIKALEISQE TINA
as "If you call upon someone as Father," citing 1 Pet 1:17. It notes that
P72 has the variant KALEITE, which they take to mean "give a surname,
call." BAG faces your controversy by giving articles: J. W. Tyrer, JTS 25
(1924) 139-50; with a reply by R. H. Connolly, ibid., 337-68. Also they
