I was puzzled at first when I saw the spelling "Nicaean" in the original
posting --- I thought it referred solely to the "Symbol of Nicaea" as
distinct from the "Nicene Creed" of our liturgies, which is, as of course
you know, the combination of two Councils, Nicaea and Constantinople.
What is useful about the site listed by David is that it presents us with
both the "Smybolum Nicaenum" and what is titled " The Text received by the
Greek Church" [and hence does not have the "filioque" clause] side by side,
which is a great study aid.
Lots of useful notes, too --- so many thanks to David for the "heads-up".
Just one quibble, though -- the author points out that his page does not
have all the accents; from internal evidence it would appear to have been
written for Win95. With Win98 and recent versions of both Netscape and IE
browsers, any "dynamic font" can be read without having to have the fonts
installed on the client computer. So it would be nice to see this, and
other pages, re-written in a fully accented font, such as SPIonic ( which
has the benefit of being free <g> .
But, I repeat, already it is a most useful site.
