PROSFERW

BDAG notes three senses--
Bring to
present to
meet, deal with
This verse is placed under the second. They also note many of the offering
passages in the Septuagint here.

In the Septuagint Hatch and Redpath note more than 150 instances of
PROSFERW. They note eleven Hebrew original words that seem to be translated
with PROSFERW.

LEH notes only two senses Presenting/offering and Gift/offering. And their
statistics on the word miss most of of Hatch and Redpath note.

Is there any justification for taking the magi's offering of the gifts to
include burning the frankincense?

Specifically in the following instances in the Septuagint, frankincense is
mentioned as part of the offering and the mixture is burned:

Lev 2:1-2
Lev 2:14-16

Would there be a cultural expectation that frankincense offered in this
manner be burned?
