I
followed your advice and sent my e-mail to the general b-greek, but my surmise
was correct that it would not be published. Quite rightly so, if the
purpose is just to exchange views on the linguistic aspect. That does not mean,
however, that members of the b-greek cannot start discussions in some smaller
groups on aspects that have theological and spiritual
overtones.<o:p></o:p>
I
admire your patience in explaining things to other people. Myself, I do not have
this patience, and the teaching, the doctrine of Christ, the Truth in other
words, is most important to me. Greek is only of subsidiary importance, which is
why I only have a smattering of it. I learned it only to form an opinion on
passages that are translated in a variety of ways, or are downright
mistranslations and falsifications. To me Revelation 3:14 means what it says and
says what it means and I do not see any reason for discussing it; some people
engage in mental acrobatics to prove their point, but if such a person rejects
the obvious truth, there is no point in discussion. As for Greek, I am a
linguist (English philologist, but I also teach some German), so I am in my
element when learning foreign languages; but life is so short, and the
rock-bottom Truth so difficult to arrive at, which is why I do not expand much
my knowledge of Greek. I may write some day about my interpretation of the
Lord's Prayer, specifically 'the daily bread' bit, which I think is a
mistranslation, and also on the 'baptism for the dead', which is a puzzle to
many people, and in these two cases there is still something to say, even though
the matter was discussed in the past. I intend to write publicly to the b-greek,
as my analysis is based on the linguistic aspect.<o:p></o:p>
As
for Christ being created or not, a point strictly bound with the trinity
doctrine, I have thought about for about twenty years, (I am 54 now), and have
summed up my views in a short article, although I know that thick volumes have
been written about it. I would like to forward it to you and ask your opinion
about it. I wrote it in Polish, German and English. I originally wrote it to the
Campus Crusade people, so the introduction will be included. This is not to
teach you of course, as you have already stated that you share my views; it is
just to ask you for opinion, if you care to read it.<o:p></o:p>
I
have also written to some people who engaged in Rev.3:14 discussion, but the
response is invariable: dead silence. As for the 'public b-greek' discussion I
feel obliged to observe their rules: no theology, although it is often difficult
to keep things apart.<o:p></o:p>
