It seems plain to me that Paul gives thanks to God on account of the hope
laid up for the Colossians in heaven. The NIV interpretation, that their
faith and love are due to the hope stored up for them, seems far fetched.
Rather the faith and love are evidence that they have a hope stored up for
them in heaven.
